How to use

Make a GST invoice in four steps. The preview updates as you type.

  1. Add your business

Enter your name, address, state and GSTIN. The GSTIN is checked for format and check character as you type.

  2. Add the buyer

Enter the buyer's details and state. Leave GSTIN empty for an unregistered buyer; the place of supply follows their state.

  3. Add the items

For each line, enter the description, HSN or SAC code, quantity, rate, any discount and the GST rate.

  4. Print or save

Check the preview, then choose Print or save as PDF. The printout has only the invoice, sized for A4.

The rules

What rule 46 requires on a tax invoice. Every field is in the generator.

Section 31 of the CGST Act requires a registered supplier to issue a tax invoice, and rule 46 of the CGST Rules, 2017 lists what it must contain. The generator has a field for each of these particulars:

Particulars of a tax invoice under rule 46
ClauseParticular
(a)Supplier's name, address and GSTIN
(b)Consecutive serial number, up to 16 characters (letters, numbers, - and /), unique for the financial year
(c)Date of issue
(d)Recipient's name, address and GSTIN or UIN, if registered
(e), (f)Unregistered recipient: name, address, delivery address and state with code, when the taxable value is ₹50,000 or more (or on request)
(g), (h)HSN code for goods or services, and description
(i)Quantity and unit (UQC)
(j), (k)Total value, and taxable value after discount
(l), (m)Rate and amount of central, State, integrated or Union territory tax and cess
(n)Place of supply with the state name, for inter-state supplies
(o)Delivery address, when different from the place of supply
(p)Whether tax is payable on reverse charge
(q)Signature or digital signature of the supplier or authorised representative

Clauses (r) and (s) cover e-invoices: an invoice reported to the Invoice Registration Portal carries a QR code with its IRN. If your business must e-invoice, report B2B invoices to the IRP; Bizzilo One does this from the same sale.

GST rates in the item list follow the rates in force since 22 September 2025 (5%, 18% and 40%, plus the special 0.25%, 1.5% and 3% rates); 12% and 28% remain for correcting older invoices.

Questions

GST invoices, answered. Plain answers, with sources above.

What must a GST tax invoice contain?

Rule 46 of the CGST Rules lists the particulars: the supplier's name, address and GSTIN; a unique invoice number of up to 16 characters; the date; the recipient's name, address and GSTIN if registered; HSN or SAC code; description; quantity and unit; total and taxable value; tax rate and amount for each tax; place of supply for inter-state supplies; delivery address if different; whether reverse charge applies; and a signature.

Does this tool verify a GSTIN?

It checks the format and the check character (the 15th character, calculated from the first 14). That catches most typing mistakes, but it cannot tell whether a GSTIN is registered or active. Search the GSTIN on the GST portal to confirm that.

When do I charge CGST and SGST instead of IGST?

When your state and the place of supply are the same, charge CGST and SGST (UTGST in Union territories without a legislature) at half the rate each. When they differ, or the buyer is outside India, charge IGST at the full rate. The tool picks the right one from the states you select.

Is this an e-invoice?

No. Businesses whose aggregate turnover crosses the e-invoicing threshold must report B2B invoices to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) and print the IRN and QR code it returns. This tool makes a regular tax invoice; Bizzilo One creates e-invoices through the IRP.

How many digits of HSN code do I need?

It depends on your aggregate turnover in the previous financial year: 4 digits up to ₹5 crore (optional on B2C invoices) and 6 digits above ₹5 crore, under Notification 78/2020-Central Tax. The HSN/SAC field accepts up to 8 digits.

Is my invoice data stored?

No. Everything stays in your browser: nothing you type is sent to Bizzilo or saved. Print or save the invoice as a PDF before you close the page.
